Laura Linney was one of the greatest American actors of recent times. Her strong and vulnerable performances have earned her a cult brand. Born to a renowned playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who made a living as a nurse, she began to take an interest in theater while working with her father during the summer, eventually studying acting, first as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. After just two short years following graduation she began her Broadway-based career. Following that, she made her debut in the world of film and television. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV plays and stage productions. Through her entire career, she has received several awards. Some of them comprise two Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards as well as three Academy Award nominations and five Tony Award nominations. Although she has received numerous accolades, she is still a lover of theatre and has appeared on stage and screen.
